Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Childhood disorders, often labeled as developmental disorders or learning disorders, most often occur and are diagnosed when the child is of school age. Although some children may show signs as early as three years of age, and require early treatment.
Dr. Oksana specializes in the diagnosis and the treatment of disorders of emotion, cognition and/or behavior affecting children from infancy to age 21.
With an expertise of a wide array of psychiatric illness, she attempts to coordinate the many needs of her patients, providing both medication management and psychotherapy, as well as coordinating their care with families, teachers, and social workers in the community.
Initially, a diagnostic evaluation is performed to assess a child’s condition with attention to its psychological, biological, social and environmental components.
The next step is to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for the child and family. In doing so, we often integrate ongoing care with health, mental health; educational, and/or social service providers from within the community.
Dr. Oksana is prepared to advocate for children and adolescents in each of these domains of care and support.
